The past week has been filled with joy, adventures, and gratitude. On Friday, Joseph came in to town and we celebrated his 50th birthday early because he would be back in Texas. The kids wanted to do something nice for him and celebrate him. My daughter decorated and purchased a cake, we sang happy birthday and My oldest daughter had all these gifts for him. We each gave him a card, even the grand baby signed a card just from him. It was the perfect start to his visit.
Saturday we spent the day at the National Zoo. It was really nice to have both grandparents there with our grandson. We all enjoyed ourselves. The weather cooperated and didn’t get too hot until around the time we left. We had dinner and took showers and everyone, including the grandson, basically passed out for the rest of the night.
Sunday we really had no plans at all and Joseph found a cavern that was open. It was about an hour’s drive to Skyline Caverns. Before going, we had lunch and then we began the trek. Monday the girls went to work, my son and grandson spent the day with Joseph, and I went to my cardiologist appointment. I got very good news that surgery would not be needed, nor was it recommended. I now need to focus on getting my cholesterol and blood pressure lower and to minimize the stress in my life. Needless to say, I went to bed before 8:30 that night, as I had totally over done it and exhausted myself over the weekend.
I am learning to enjoy every moment and to live each day. Life is short and we don’t know what the next day will bring. I did over do it, but I enjoyed the laughter and memories that we made over the weekend. It wall all worth it. Now I will most likely spend the next few days recuperating but it was worth it.
